Paradise Pavillion @ Marina Bay Financial Centre

Few weeks back, my parents decided to use one of their Paradise Group Card (PGC) e-Vouchers at Paradise Pavilion. Apparently, they only have one restaurant all the way at Marina Bay Financial Centre. Nothing much there except for the newly opened Marina Bay Link Mall.

So anyways, we called to book a table. Reservations are highly recommended because the restaurant can get quite full by lunch time. When we arrived, the waitress led us to a table right under the air conditioner(SHIOK!).

We placed our orders and waited patiently. Service was fast as the first dish came within 10 mins. That was the jellyfish in garlic vinegar(top right hand), or something like that. Oops, I can't really remember the name. But who cares, as long as it tasted awesome right?

Next came the dim sum items which we ordered. We ordered quite a few items but i was too busy eating to remember to take pictures of all of them. So here is several pictures of what we ordered:
Deep Fried Shrimp Dumpling
So-so for me. Similar to other restaurants'.

Egg Tarts and Baked Snow Top Po Lo Bun
The egg tarts are the cream of the crop. The pastry is flaky enough, yet not too crumbly and the egg custard is milky and smooth. Rich in flavour too! Now moving on to the po lo bun. It looked odd at first as it is not like the usual yellow ones we see in bakeries but they taste twice as good.

 Steamed Custard Bun (MY FAVOURITE!)
The golden salted egg yolk custard oozes out the moment you tear the bun open. Make sure you have a tissue on standby!

Steamed Shrimp Dumpling
The skin is not too thin or thick, it is of right consistency and the jumbo prawns wrapped inside are of maximu freshness. Couple it with their in-house chilli and it will be as if you are in heaven!
Deep Fried Prawn and Mango Roll
Crispy on the outside and smooth on the inside. I must say, this prawn and mango roll is one of the best I have ever tried. The mango is as sweet as it can get, unlike other restaurants where the mango sometimes has a tinge of tartness. Mabe they used unripen mangoes, who knows???

Out of all the items, the custard buns, egg tarts, po lo buns and steamed shrimp dumplings were the best! They are the must have items when eating at Paradise Pavilion.

My dad was a little adventurous and ordered something most Singaporeans would not dare eat nowadays.

Deep Fried Pig Intestines
For those watching their diets and weights, this is a big no-no. Though crispy, it was soaked in oil. Imagine the amount of oil gonna surround our arteries from one plate of that! I dare not picture it at all. My advice is stay away from it as far as possible!

Overall, it was not too bad a dim sum lunch. The service excellent as the waiters and waitresses were quick on their feet to respond to our requests and to fill up our teapot. But if you want to enjoy your dim sum slowly, try not to seat directly under the air conditioner like what I did. Your food would turn cold almost immediately! The total bill was about $90 for 3 persons before using the PGC rebate. A bit pricey unless a high end and classy dim sum lunch is what you are looking for.

Be sure to also check out their wholly authentic apple wood-roasted Peking Duck in Singapore at $88++ each.
